Direct Services

The Tools for Life team works directly with individuals with disabilities to assist in providing AT solutions to increase their independence at work, school, in the community, and recreationally. The TFL team will meet with people with disabilities, family members, employers, school systems, and health providers. Some services that can assist are the TFL AT Device demonstrations, AT Lending Library, and AT Assessments.

Demonstrations

We help Georgians with disabilities make informed decisions when selecting assistive technology devices. Device demonstrations are available to people with disabilities, their families, and providers of education, health, employment and related services.

  • Learn about devices that help with specific needs, such as talking on the telephone or reading mail
  • Learn about a specific device's features, and how those features differ from other devices that perform the same thing
  • Learn how devices can help at work, in school, at home, and in the community.

AT Lending Library

This library is created to assist Georgians to “Try before you buy” for a short-term loan to ensure the AT solution meets your needs. The TFL Network offers AT loans for hundreds of solutions. Most AT Loans are for 4 weeks.

Assistive Technology (AT) Device Loans are available to people with disabilities and their families, as well as providers of education, health, employment, and related services.

The Assistive Technology Lending Library is provided by Tools for Life under the mandate of the Assistive Technology Act of 1998 as Amended 2004 Title III, Section 4.

Assistive Technology Assessments

An Assistive Technology assessment is focused on matching the individual abilities with technology that will allow an individual to perform a certain task or goal. These assessments can be requested by employers, agencies that are working with individuals who are working/ wanting to return to work, or agencies working with individuals wanting/ needing to make their home environments more accessible.

This is a fee-based service. Tools for Life is unable to complete AT assessments for K- 12 Organizations, private schools, private pay, insurance, or Augmentative Alternative (AAC) Communication Assessments.
